Privacy Policy

Find Area Events (findareaevents.com) is a free local events guide. This page explains, in plain language, what information the site handles and what it does not.

No accounts, no sign-up

The site has no user accounts. You never create a profile, and we do not collect your name, email address, or password to use the site.

Your approximate location

To show events near you, the site estimates your general area from your IP address when the page loads, and, only if you tap the locate button and your browser asks and you agree, uses your device's location. Your location is used to pick which nearby events and maps to show. We do not build a history of where you have been.

Maps

Maps are provided by Mapbox. When the map loads, your browser talks to Mapbox's servers, which involves your IP address, as with any embedded map service. See Mapbox's privacy policy for how they handle that.

Event listings

All events shown are gathered from publicly available sources — venue websites, public calendars, and ticketing pages. Listings are about public happenings, not about you.

Sponsored placements

Some listings are paid placements from local advertisers. For those, we count how many times a placement is shown and clicked so we can report simple totals (views, clicks) to the advertiser. These counts are aggregate numbers only — they are not tied to your identity, and we do not track you across other websites or build advertising profiles.

Advertisers

If you buy a placement, we keep the details you give us for that placement (business or event name, the ad content, and a contact email address) so we can run your campaign, send you your management link and campaign reminders, and handle billing. Payment card details are handled by our payment processor (Stripe) and never touch our servers. We do not sell or share advertiser contact details.

Cookies and local storage

The site does not use advertising or tracking cookies. Your browser's local storage may hold small site preferences (for example, your last search area) on your own device.

Data retention

Aggregate view/click counts are kept as part of campaign records. Server logs used to keep the site running are short-lived.

Children

The site is a general-audience events guide and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with an updated date.
